Good and Evil

"He who fights monsters should see to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you."
— Friedrich Nietzsche, Beyond Good and Evil

I've always wondered how brilliant minds fall prey to ills and evils ? How a person with high credentials and intellect slips deep down in their moral behavior? How our leaders and executives and all other people with great power and much greater responsibility go past their standards and do some heavy nasty things.

Corruption, bribe, cheating are just the popular ones there are so many holes in their armors that it seems impossible to imagine that sometimes back, they used to hold one. How this transformation of good into bad takes place ? Is it an instant process or gradual ?

Men and women with great passion and hard-work pave their ways to high places. They turn their day n night in studying and creating a personality which segregates them from general mass. They are seen with respect, are tagged with wisdom, knowledge and discretion. Then how this well-informed, educated and trained mind gets distracted ?

Nobody is born bad. Initially we all are same delicate, childlike, spotless innocent creatures. Than what makes us good n bad ? Is it the genetic make-up, deeds we do, things we say or the people around us ? Is there no way of knowing, detecting and sensing this braniac pollution? When and how its going to attack ? Its symptoms or side-effects ?

Questions are many and so are the answers. But none helps. This monster is growing, and its growing with speed higher than ever. Some are resistant, some are resilient. But for how long ? We all know how great technologies which we proud today, helping us in building our nation, uniting it and controlling it, can be used disastrously if got in wrong hands. How some people bend rules. How the laws and rights are misused ? How the data [which we believe to be encrypted and super-safe] collected in the name of protection and benefits and fast and easy transactions holds the capability of stalking and monitoring our each and every move ?

How the things/rules/laws and people which were once good turn into some friendly monsters. Those who are fighting against it, how long before they fail to abstain ?

PS: Sorry for not being so active these days. Got exams... But, will be back again soon. Till than tckr !!!

Broken Windows

.... one unrepaired broken window is
a signal that no one cares, and so
breaking more window costs
nothing.
                                                                                                    ~James Q. Wilson &
                                                                                                       George Kelling.

I don't know how many of you are aware of this "Broken Windows" theory but when I read about it, I found it very occupying. It was like all the dots were connecting to produce a more clearer picture and I was able to correlate it with different levels of our life. Like a universal law it was there in all forms and at all places.

So before few of you scratch your head over, What the heck this Broken Window is ?
Broken Window  in real world symbolizes any fallacy or wrong doing you can ever imagine. Whether its a lil lie to someone, some unchecked/ignored error in your finances, breaking traffic rules on road, giving bribe, stalking, stealing, kvetching, bad decisions, poor behavior, misconduct, treason  and so on... A tiny slack from your part and there is this sub-conscious understanding inside your cerebra that..... there's an escape, whether knowingly or unknowingly chances of you doing it again increases exponentially.

Why ?
Because in most of the cases neither you nor the people around you care enough to repair that broken window and than this signal that no one cares resides somewhere deep down in your head. It tempts you to do it again, explore new avenues of it. Trust me this temptation is too enticing to refute. Most of us give up in no time and we create an unstable and figurative neighborhood full of broken windows.

Don't we all are really doing this to ourselves. Well functioning system is just an illusion, in reality things are messed up pretty bad. When watched carefully it's not just the neighborhood, but the whole city and country at large is loomed with infinite instances of broken windows. It's all in human behavior. When we see someone transgressing the law, even under the watchful eyes of a helpless policeman, we don't even care once to follow that same rule. Instead we break another window in the array of broken ones.

Initially "Broken Windows" was just a study on criminal behavior but I guess we all are sane  enough to admit that each one of us fall under this radar. So called- Common Man is the real player in action here and when this common man witnesses such broken windows in large numbers committing  bigger wrongs(crimes) with no feeling of remorse whatsoever comes naturally. There's no logic to this deviated behavior. It's just it. The devil is inside us, growing monstrously with each passing day.

Negligence is the biggest offense, which we all contravene on daily basis. Instead of correcting [ repairing broken windows]  we somehow find ways to encourage it. This ideology has seeped deep down in our veins and we are running out of time to flush it out.  We grow up hearing "apne aap se matlab rakho, jyada netagiri karne ki koi zaroorat nahin hai" i.e " Don't bother about what others are doing, whether its wrong or right, just keep things to yourself. Don't mess up".  With time we become so obsessively  protective of ourselves that in order to  maintain this comfy status we can cross any possible limit and yeah here comes in action, the main protagonist of our story - our beloved corruption

Zero Tolerance
It was the Broken Window theory which laid the foundation of zero tolerance in law enforcement. What I suggest here is that we all have to enforce this idea of Zero Tolerance in our personal lives at individual level. Its not the major deadly crimes but small tolerable crimes that poses big threat to our country's stability and integrity. Let's not modify our behavior into the apathetic one. Just because we Indians believe in karma, afterlife and we worship millions of Gods and Goddesses and we are basically god fearing and can therefore be pardoned for committing lesser infractions. This is not done.

We need to fix these broken windows as soon as we discover them. If we can't fix it than least we can do is label it up for future reference. Don't leave it unattended. For starters experiment on yourself than your family and friends. May be not in months but in years you'll see the change. Change which you can proudly show off to others. Let's make our neighborhood a place of order and fun where you can live happily ever after.

So what do you guys gonna do about the broken windows of your neighborhood ???
You are going to sit tight or you are planning to repair it .

A Soldier's Cry

A soldier's reaction after he thinks hard about the internal conflicts of his country. When he looks around, all he sees is corrupted system, stained politics and illogical disputes perfectly imbibed n camouflaged . All he  thinks is that --- >

Toughest, not tough enough
to deter me.
Roughest, not rough enough
to unnerve me.
What creeps me, are
the enemies inside.

I swear
Outsiders can never harm
my country. But I worry
as I see everyday
loudmouthed leering Lucifers
roaming around
walking free.

Suspected, yet unseen.
Their slates are too clean.
Well disguised in appearance
they seem, innocuously serene.
Faulty system, filthy politics
Signal them green.

I stand here, securing borders
with cold, watchful, vigilant faces
But potential enemies, harboring
Inside, well secured
In some complicated hiding places.

“Blame Game” new sensational
National Game. Morbid curiosities
Rising high
I want you all to
listen to this Soldier’s Cry.

Wake up your dormant senses.
Smell this reek of enemy inside.
Its time- time to find out
plausible hidey-holes of
perfectly fake humans.
Flourishing on our soils
spoiling nationwide.

Illicit..

"Common sense and history  teaches you that rewarding illegal behavior will only encourage more of it"- Ric keller
But, we do the same every single day. As if we were born to and fated to go off-the law. Many hearty thanks to our flawed, bugged political system, bureaucracy and democracy. We all practice it, enjoy it and tragically,  promoting it to our future generations.
Give it a thought.
Think hard "How much legality prevails upon you" ?
How many rules you break or ignore everyday and blame only others(policemen, law-enforcers) for their inactivity.
Note: By illicit here I don't mean the crimes like theft, murder n all instead it refers to the tiny simple protocols n rules which we breach knowingly or unknowingly everyday.

Illicit
By the law, By the book
Without exception
at every places, every nook.
But "Who Cares" attitude
At each coordinates n altitude.
Giving birth to bodies of lies
and hearts of
No-Guilt, Zero-Gratitude.

Shrewd inactions,
misapprehensions
Ever-growing tail of
Illicit actions.
Probation by blinds
Cardinal-Facts
As always, Sidelined.

With paraplegic, malfunctioned tools,
as dictated by political fools.
Its impracticable to
dissipate this fog
With compromised
observations, flawed Entries
and spurious logs.
Everyday
a new facade, a new ruse
to discompose and confuse.
We are still "Contended"
By our surrounds
Give me one single reason
On what damn Grounds ?

Just open up your eyes
try n realize.
Don't loose your eyesight
to conceptualize,
Because, all in all
our brains are not yet lobotomized.
We can still  -->>
Counterattack,
Criticize and
Improvise.

Divided attentions..

Nitrogen is the most abundant gas on earth. Is there anything else which you can compare with N2 ???   Don't give too much stress. There is something which you can find almost everywhere. Hidden or exposed that doesn't matter, but no one can deny its existence. "Corruption" yes, this is what I am talking about.  What does corruption thinks about human race, have a look.
Read this poem from corruption's point of view

I am a problem
a hindrance, in everyone's way
You've subscribed me
I command, what you say

Gravely imbibed
As a homogeneous mixture
Swiftly, I'm reinforcing
in an invincible infrastructure.

You are my fosterer
Keeper, my caretaker
But, I owe you nothing
not even my loyalty
That's my diplomacy
My rules and policy

Encoded in your genes
I have flawed your inheritance
Dominant or recessive
you can sense my presence.
Redundancy, No chance
As I am destined to enhance.

Getting rid of me
is not an option
Indomitable to you
coz, you forged my adoption
I'll enjoy this realm forever
by virtue of your
divided attentions
and flawed conventions.
See, I told  you
Getting rid of me,
is not an option.
