Abnormal..

Only abnormality is incapacity to love, unable to feel/see good in others.
Majority of population in any country is mentally normal(genetically and  physically). Sane and intelligent enough to judge between right and wrong. Smart enough to judge between good and bad. But with increase in crime, family dramas, scams it seems that things are not even near to normal. Something is really wrong with people. It feels like generation by generation the genes of abnormality are becoming more dominant and Normal human genes are getting repressed.
Line between a Normal and an Abnormal is becoming very thin....and the in the contrary abnormal ones seems to be behaving in normal and cordial ways.

He lacks in
normal talks
even not normal
are his walks
queer thoughts
he projects
usual things
he rejects.

His version of brain
is labeled as, Low
Execution of instructions
are also slow
But the smile he smiles
is bereaved of bugs
Things he transmits
is lots of Love
and lovely hugs.

Pure like a child
a baby at his heart
He's uniquely intelligent
and uncommonly smart.

All these features
looks so normal
nothing anomalous
suspicious or abnormal.
Fact is:
We all perform too normal
ingenious, over-smart
May be phenomenal
but equally paranormal
Far beyond something
Which one can call
absolutely "Normal".

  1. Hi Jyoti,

A very sensitively written poem. Yes, we all function abnormally going by the standards of indifference that we have in society.

Keep writing more on such topics.

  9. A good narration on contrasts (of) and contrary human behaviour.....one should always be careful about the deception! As you can not necessarily guess the content of any book be merely seeing its cover you cant similarly judge a man by observing his face and apparent behaviour only!
....one has to delve deep into a person to behold the world hidden inside .

  10. The curve of normal vs abnormal is bell shaped .Most of the people in a population are of av .intelligence .A small minority is extra -ordinarily intelligent and small minority mentally ill or retarded .So are the number of rich and poor .Majority is with an av .income .small minority is billionaire, and the same number of people are absolute beggars .yet we try to over smart and overtake others .Good post .

  14. wow...great words...it touched my heart...our problem is in understanding the definition of words like normal and intelligence...these beautiful minds are unique, normal and intelligent in their own way...

  15. Well observed the perspective of being abnormal among normal. So true, the behavior pattern in and out differentiates, but being cautious is very important that it never affect others. Being true even the behavior is not good will do much than being concealed person with ill mind.

    Nice write up Jyoti!

  20. Beautifully said Jyoti. Abnormality persists in our day today life. However, I think it is not much related to genes, but, it has something to do with lack of training regarding normal behavior and organizing our selves.

  22. Inspirational food for thought and beautifully written. The photo you chose is that visual of what you are portraying in your poem...which is brilliant. It is a reminder that the purity of the human condition can come from the most unexpected places...all you have to do is stop and look beyond your own perception of "Normal"..

  29. Jyoti,

You have so rightly brought out - We, the NORMAL, persons either look down upon or just sympathize superficially with those who are physically or mentally challenged but do we ever introspect our actions as a normal person?

    Take care

  37. I don't think there is any kind of 'normal' anymore.
Man is messing in the DNA and stem cells and doing all types of weird experiments now. I read recently they wanted to put a human brain into a pig. Crazy Stuff!
There is so much about ourselves we still don't know. Apparently we only use one 3rd of what our brains are capable of doing. And, those who are 'different' such a autistics are seen as abnormal, when in fact they are discovering now that each autistic child has some unique type of genius and, they also show signs of telepathy.
we always mock, or fear what we don't understand.
Great blog, so glad you came and found mine too and thanks for the lovely comment. :)

  40. actually purity of love depends upon the innocence of hearts and that ultimately is directly proportional to 'nascence'which is generally infected by so called "brainy class".

your "creations" compel one to think over his own perception of life.

    ReplyDelete
  41. A very touching piece, Jyoti. Purity of heart and the generous giving of love should definitely be what is normal for all of us in this world, though it isn't always the case!

And thank you for your nice comments on my blog...I very much appreciate it...:)

  42. So true, what passes for "normality" seems to be a quite a distance from natural. I think it has been like this throughout history...the minority is alway's mystified at what the majority agree's is an acceptable norm of what a person SHOULD be like.As if we are to be programmed!
Man is SOOO very smart that he outsmarts himself all the time!
Compassion and a warm smile win out over a high I.Q. any day. Awesome piece, Jioti. You never fail to feed your readers!

  44. Finally have free time, but never fear here I won't rhyme, too much..lol.

Yes this was an excellent write and so true too. There is no real normal, only what we perceive. Totally agree, things do seem to be digressing a bit with the so called "normal ones" too.

  46. Your observations are absolutely right. Society is becoming more and more materialistic and self centred and good values of olden days are frowned upon. With nuclear families sprouting all over people are losing respect for elderly. Everyone wants to have the biggest, best and costliest things in order to flaunt and boast to their neighbors, friends and relatives. The rat race for supremacy over others have become paramount.Parents have no time for their children and children are left to fend for themselves. Moral values are getting eroded and TV and movies are playing a big role in this respect.

I enjoyed reading your marvelous, well thought out and beautiful poem with a very strong message.

  49. so glad to meet you. i liked this a lot - it's very well written but what i like most is that i can feel your eyes, looking with much love to this children - and yes - what is normal and who's going to define it..?

  55. This poem is brilliant. The most common problem among man is what we perceive to be 'normal'. It's not until we read a poem like this that we realize how much we are missing.

  61. Hey,
    I love the topic
Because 'normal' is only what a person perspective of 'normal' is
    :)

  62. Excellent poem. Sometimes I think the rest of us "normals" are so distracted by our active "normal" to 'high" functioning brains, we forget the fundamentals of how to love and how to be happy. Thanks for this poem.

  63. I don't think there is a line between the normal and the abnormal. I think it all depends on what society thinks. If you don't conform to society then you are deemed abnormal.
Just look at lady gaga, she doesn't dress the way we want her to and look what we call her

    "...Far beyond something

    absolutely 'Normal'..."

Oh how beautifully you weave your thoughts with your soul, Jyoti... amazed at the crisp depth you create, so flawlessly... I just feel like going down it, like through some rabbit-hole to a wonderland... very insightful and creative at the same time.

Very few people can conjure up 'bliss' with words. You are one of them. :)
