Like everyone else I plan things. I make a luxuriant list of the things I wanna do and invest an awful amount of energy while doing so. Envisaging minute details and keeping track of all possible backdrops and outcomes. I keep changing them too ( sometimes very often) and loose my way in the process. This brain of mine always finds itself pregnant with new ideas and associated plans. A slight change in the context and the whole plan goes in flush and a new baby plan is conceived. As Sarah sDessen says -
"you can't just plan a moment when things get back on track, just as you can't plan the moment you lose your way in the first place"
"you can't just plan a moment when things get back on track, just as you can't plan the moment you lose your way in the first place"
There are things I can never plan or to put it other way, there are times when all my plans just fail. It doesn't mean I'm a bad planner or some hapless fellow with poor management skills. I do all that can be done. I cross every Ts and dot every Is. But, in spite of all that details and contingency planning something goes wrong.
I had every thing covered
plot was thick,
my planning too.
steel-proof it was
I was sure.
Things can go wrong
I knew what to do.
I had contingency plans
at hand
but sometimes clock ticks
too fast to comprehend.
Never saw it coming.
Opponent was too quick
to grab.
I find him oddly familiar
and very strange
then I realized
It was no one but Me.
I planned everyone else
everything else
except that chaotic
turbulence inside Me.
Somehow I myself
was responsible
for this blunder spree.
I couldn't plan distractions
I found them on my way
I couldn't plan the
randomness that goes on
every single day.
I thought I was in control
of every moves I may make
or every word
my fluky mouth may say .
We often find ourselves doing something else then we actually planned. The impregnable shell we create for ourselves by meticulous planning suddenly melts away. You feel tempted to deviate and do things differently and may be sometimes despite that you turn back and stick to the plan. But, such decisions exist everyday and you have deal with then on regular basis. With time
You learn to build all your roads on today
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn...
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
And you learn that you really can endure...
Because tomorrow's ground is too uncertain for plans
And futures have a way of falling down in mid-flight.
After a while you learn...
That even sunshine burns if you get too much.
So you plant your garden and decorate your own soul,
And you learn that you really can endure...
~Veronica A. Shoffstall
That's what life is ..... nice poem
ReplyDeleteSo very true, no matter how well something is planned, life can always throw a curveball and poof, plan goes out the window.
ReplyDeleteI think I am the opposite to you Jyoti in that in essence I do not plan my life - I let it happen.
ReplyDeleteNever kept a diary, maybe have a loose routine as in meeting daily living needs. (A certain routine at work I admit - but here it is not strict - it is bendable to meet the unexpected.) Never write lists, that is, apart from a (very) rare shopping list around Christmas time.
I am a great procrastinator forever believing that tomorrow will do.
I like my chosen mode of life - my time is elastic with the result that I am available when others need me. I am not disappointed as my set goals exist on elastic time too.
Laid back - yes. Happy - very.

It's so nice that you've penned down your thoughts so beutifully. I can suggest one thing; try living for sometimes without planning anything. Be a random entity rather than letting randomness plays with you. Be an anomaly !
ReplyDeleteThere is no road built without encountering road blocks! Nice writing Jyoti:)
ReplyDeleteA plan works not only centering ourselves. There are many things out of our control needs to lean hand. Wonderful post Jyoti!
ReplyDeleteबेहतरीन अभिव्यक्ति!!
ReplyDelete...बसंत पंचमी की शुभकामनाएँ !!!
A slender similarity with my post at my blog with this one…well, not everything goes well as planned for whatever reasons… for me it s like, I m more of a planning person, but most of my plans go awry, but what I do on impulse turn out to be the best decisions…. Life is like that

i plan, but always figure to hold my plans loosely knowing that things happen i never expect...and set myself up early for that being ok...so there is no disappointment...flow like a river you know...smiles....
ReplyDeletebeautifully penned thoughts....though i am not that good on poetry but those easy words made me understand it easily.....:)
ReplyDeleteoops
ReplyDeletewhere did my comment go?
Very identifiable post I would say...
ReplyDeleteSometimes our planning fails miserably and sometimes we have to suffer (Or maybe enjoy) that we haven't planned at all (Life is full of uncertainty you see...) :)
and, than we say life is all about planning for unexpected moments. Live the playful life.
ReplyDeleteWeakest LINK
Beautiful thought but sadly planning does not works; things happen spontaneously.
ReplyDeleteIt wouldn't be life if things pan out as planned.

Nice one, Jyoti :)
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of having a plan. It helps to discipline one's thinking. It has elements of anticipation and accomplishment. It's definitely better than aimlessly wandering. Nicely Jyoti!
