Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles
and the water is clear ~ Lao Tzu
Patience
is something that doesn't come naturally, not to me at least. It's like one of those drinks which I always want to taste but, guess what, I'm too penurious to buy it. Impatient heart races fast, trust me... very
fast and it pumps so hard that sometimes I feel like it'll come out and it will
redecorate the walls that stand beside me. But I deny the fact all the time. There's no way in my right mind you'll ever see me agreeing that -"I'm patience-deficient". I'll lie right away, on your face, like any sane person would.
I guess I
need melioration. I want to be more like that antecedent river that keeps flowing in the same way no matter what
shall come in its way. Will I ever be able to do that.. Well I'm leaving that
to later times.
Patience, the elixir
people say, I find it hard
to look at it that way
what's wrong in
swimming little fast
stroll a little longer
along the ocean vast
Unlimited, my desires
queries that I acquire
ideas bombarding my head
diffused, perching in
shreds
holding off, just to set
free
temptations, incentives
of copious degrees
I know people are right
I just wonder why they
always are
warriors they say, time
and patience are
trying hard, not to babble
from this blithering mouth
just wanna learn
directions
before things, as they
can, go south
Flaccid heart of mine
runs marathon everyday
with this ceaseless scrimmage
construction followed by
damage
then synthesis again
new queries, different
reasons
new plot, a whole new
stage
Be patient Rainer Maria
says, toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions
themselves, like those locked rooms and like books that are now written in a
very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you
because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live
everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without
noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer :)
It is tough to wait for long but let the dust settle.
ReplyDeletevery very tough Sir..
Deleteneeds a lot of determination !!
I'm stopping in from the blog hop. (A day late.)
ReplyDeleteI'm a home schooling mom, and I had this discussion the other day with another home schooling mom. She said the biggest response she hears when people find out she teaches, "Oh, bless you! I wouldn't have the patience for that." Because she was born with an over abundance of patience. *scratching brow* It's definitely one of those things that only grows with practice.
Welcome Crystal..
Deleteno worries.. and I agree with you.. it grows with time. I guess I'm more patient and mature than I was few years back :)
Good things come to those who wait :-) And this famous Hindi saying "The fruit of patience is sweet"
ReplyDeleteI'll wait for the right moment boss :)
DeleteThanks !!!
Beautiful expression Jyoti!
ReplyDeleteI liked the quotation "Do you have the patience to wait until your mud settles and the water is clear" I would say...yes, I have.:)
Thank you :)

DeleteDepends on what it is for me, I can be patient, but I like to keep busy
ReplyDeletehehe..
Deletetotally it depends on that only :)
Exactly my feelings too. I never admitted I lacked patience too. Hopefully , I am learning now to be more patient. The age demands it, I guess. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the poem.

Welcome Tanya !!
Being patient does not exclude being proactive does it?
ReplyDeletenope, not at all
DeleteI think no one can never put on act of patience in all circumstances..
...how foolish i am to write & talk about patience when it seldom be seen on my acts... ha.. it's easier said than done.... i think the best things are happening in times when we tend to rush everything around... loved loved Lao Tzu & his metaphors... smiles... very insightful Jyoti...
ReplyDeletehehe.. agree with you Kelvin..
Deletemuch easily said than done :)
Well RUSH has its own pros and cons.. Isn't it ?
Patience even cures patients. But if you have to hurry, have stability in hurry, not a mess. Nice thought! nice thought!
ReplyDeletenot a mess :)
DeleteMost of the time I'm impatient, not that easy for me to keep calm and stable all the time. But, in some situations I have patience. I guess having patience or not depends on situation and nobody is completely patient or impatient. Lovely poem Jyoti!
ReplyDeleteagree with you valli..
Deletedepends on situation... hehe and yeah ain't nobody SAINT..
everyone loses at some point :)
patience has not always been easy for me...i make things happen and so i want to see results....its been a learning process in realizing all things have their time...
ReplyDeletetrue..
Deleteeverything takes a diff time..
smiles. have a wonderful day jyoti
Deletenice read , patience is not one of my strengths
ReplyDeletemine too :P
Deletethanks !!
I really feel I've made progress as far as patience is concerned. It's something that we become more attuned to with age in my opinion. At least that's the hope!!
ReplyDeleteI'm hoping for the same Keith :)
DeletePatience upto certain point is fine.Taken too far it is no virtue.Time and tide wait for no man is the adage but there should be a sense of timing.
ReplyDeleteright... too much patience does no good..
Deleteit irritates i guess
patience is a virtue which only few have in this world, impatience is the undoing of the humans... very thought provoking :)
ReplyDeleteThank you Israr :)
DeleteGood to see you... we all are born impatient.. aren't we ?
Patience is something I stick from beginning, perhaps my physical activities have direct link with patience since I lack ability to do things fast it also slow down the inbuilt. I would wait patiently for long time to achieve or buy something that could be nothing for others as well waste of time. I think only patient people can learn many things clearly, but experience is something keep away patience.
ReplyDeleteInteresting poem jyoti! Great thought
Thank you jeevan..
DeleteI just wish you never have to wait for long for anything :)
ah i can relate - i'm not a very patient persone - i have to learn to slow down...and be patient with those around me...and myself...smiles
ReplyDeleteneither am I Claudia.. :)
DeleteI'm in the learning process too.. taking steps one by one
Provocative and intriguing, Jyoti. "Patience, the elixir people say..." This reminds me of my mother. Her favorite saying? Patience and perseverance will overcome all difficulties. She lived by the rule and instilled it in her children. The result? I'm far too patient with others, often letting them take advantage, while at the same time I have no patience with my own weaknesses.
ReplyDeleteAll good things in moderation.
VR Barkowski
My mum says same... guess all moms are same :P
Deletetrue... everything's good in limits
Love that quote ~ This is something I have to learn to because all things come to us in their own way and time ~
