Divided attentions..

Nitrogen is the most abundant gas on earth. Is there anything else which you can compare with N2 ???   Don't give too much stress. There is something which you can find almost everywhere. Hidden or exposed that doesn't matter, but no one can deny its existence. "Corruption" yes, this is what I am talking about.  What does corruption thinks about human race, have a look.
Read this poem from corruption's point of view

I am a problem
a hindrance, in everyone's way
You've subscribed me
I command, what you say

Gravely imbibed
As a homogeneous mixture
Swiftly, I'm reinforcing
in an invincible infrastructure.

You are my fosterer
Keeper, my caretaker
But, I owe you nothing
not even my loyalty
That's my diplomacy
My rules and policy

Encoded in your genes
I have flawed your inheritance
Dominant or recessive
you can sense my presence.
Redundancy, No chance
As I am destined to enhance.

Getting rid of me
is not an option
Indomitable to you
coz, you forged my adoption
I'll enjoy this realm forever
by virtue of your
divided attentions
and flawed conventions.
See, I told  you
Getting rid of me,
is not an option.

PS: Please visit my another  blog on which I'll be posting Hindi versions of my poem.

what lines lady!! So apt and profusely meaningful. Believe or not I am writing a post on corruption since 2 weeks or so and I am not able to complete it. It's never ending. The more I do a research on it, it just gets deeper and deeper. You have done a superb job. It's my favorite so far :) I love the wordings

  2. so aptly put! Its a deep rooted problem... and i agree, its being "Encoded in our genes". With each passing day that is becoming our 'way of life' and its scary to see how fast its spreading!

  4. even in the bible. tax collectors are considered as sinners... why? its just a job..

but yes, it means that tax collectors, collect more than what is required of their job.

in other words, corruption has been a sickness even in ages ago

  10. ..by nature all of us are corrupt... and i believe in that.. though we may not have noticed it at times i am very sure we do... maybe most us don't care much about accepting the fact... and by just simply looking at the term 'don't care' would show a sign of one being corrupt... there are many kinds of corruption in this world Jyoti... it could be on anything.. on anyone... so we really want to eliminate it... let the change start on us... remember, we are change we want to see in this world.... glad to know that you're starting your way towards that big change... this piece is adorable. keep it alive.(:

RE: thank you for your comments and for the effort to googled those unfamiliar words... those actually are no stranger to me since i enrolled in a Nihongo class during my undergrad... though i am not fluent at it still...hehehe...(:

    Brightest blessings to you.

  12. Well put together and executed. I like how arrogant "corruption" speaks. It would make sense. When survival is assred, one tends to get that way.

It is funny, but corruption has been the foundation of so many of humanities accomplishment's. Or reather, the things that history books tell us are accomplishments I do not think that we are ALL corrupt by nature. Some of us have no ethics, and some of us have very flexible ones,I agree. It is defeatist for me to accept that we are all corrupted, though . Smacks of the Christian concept of "original sin". Corruption is an innate part of the human experience, however. This is just my thought.
Thank you for graciously hosting us. Cheers!

  13. Actually this is wat we Indians are expecting in this crucial time....actually we are in the phase of transformation....from here we have a chance to develop a corruption free INDIA....
you have nicely carved our thinking abt this malignant problem....
lets support Baba Ramdev and Shri Anna Hazare for wat he is doing to eradicate this problem.
NICE POEM BUT END SHOULD BE WITH SOME SOLUTION,not like this as if we are not able to do anything against it.....

  18. Getting rid of me
    is not an option ...

no!....there is an option in the way of 'A Way'..

corruption does not born with our birth...we adopt it or say we attach it to us after seeing and greeding.....

we can get rid of it by having a positive attitude, self determination, using the brain in constructive way, thinking about to sustain the things, people, environment surrounded to us...

of course, u have pointed out a good issue...

still honesty is in sould of everybody, unfortunately he can not recognize it and is influenced by undue forces.....

    well written!

  33. Never thought that I'd have a problem,
But the world's no longer that wholesome.
    All that there is there,
Is ministers taking money from welfare.

The common man hypes about me,
But nothing is being done to stop the flow of money.
I guess I'll hang around a bit more,
    Till you guys get sore.

Read it as if Corruption was the author.

  42. Very well said, Jyoti. You have a knack for laying truth down in very clear terms. Recently, I dealt with an episode of what I would define as mob mentality - a blogging situation that got completely out of hand and turned into stalking. Although it was unpleasant, at the time my mind also split into that double perception where I observed how human nature will sadly, and inevitably, jump on a hate-mongering bandwagon with glee. Perhaps not quite the focus you intended with your poem, but it is a facet of corruption all the same, and that's what came to mind when I read this. This had impact, as it is rare that blunt truths are spoken or written. :)

  45. Jyoti,

The opening introduction was so factual that it goes straight to heart. What corruption says is so true. It is going to be a real miracle if we can even control it what to talk of eradicating it. Very well composed.

    Take care

  52. corruption is of many types ,the one you are talking about is monetery one.
Imagine ,how good a facility it is to just spend few bucks more get the job done in your favour even if the system or the rules doesnot allow it!!would it have been possible otherwise...it saves your time, energy, confidence, winning spirit etc.....and these all for just few more bucks...i think dealing with corruption(either ways)is a lucrative formula!!

  58. Very true. The corruption was always there, but limited to lower level. But now it has spread its tentacles at the highest level, which is more serious to the society. To eradicate corruption completely is a day dream, but an effort may be made to minimize it. We will have to take the first step ourselves in this regard. If every one takes a pledge not to succumb to corruption from any quarter, then it will certainly have a salutary effect in the society.
