An Age of Confusions

"I like too many things and get all confused and hung-up running from one falling star to another till I drop. This is the night, what it does to you. I had nothing to offer anybody except my own confusion."
~ Jack Kerouac

Here I stand confused feeling like there's two poles inside my head and like a blind man at cross-road I think that somebody will come up to me and help. But, sometimes there's no one to help and blind man has no option but to tap his stick on the ground to assess and tread.

It's so confusing sometimes
unwanted rage, conflicting desires
in this age so prime
what is it that I want ?
what is it that I aspire ?
ohh, these crooked desires..

Ahead, two boulevards for me to take
picking one is what I dread
do not want an imprint of mistake
fear failure and it's lash-like taste
what if ? I doctored one instead
affecting all of what's waiting ahead

Push and pull hurts me most
uncalled for reproach and abuse
beginning of the feeling like I lost
dropping dead on some random spot
what if ? all this is just a ruse
just to complex the confuse

They say listen to your heart
and silence all that ails
sever all that thwarts
but how would I know
which train to derail ?
 or which one's  a favorable sail ?

It's so confusing sometimes
there are no such complications
like confusions of a simple mind.

  1. We all go through these confusions albeit of different nature at different stages in life. Confusions of a simple mind, expressed poetically. Nice.

  2. It is difficult knowing what road to take and I do tend to listen to my heart. I sometimes look back wondering what my life would be like if I made different choices and it is true I might have had a 'better' job etc. - but then I wouldn't have what I have now - my lovely husband and children. It is probable that if I had made different choices - I would have met someone else and not my husband - but there is no guarantees I would be happy...now. And I am happy now.

  10. I am not a great fan of poetry so I cannot make out the in-depth meanings.. But I can make this out that something is bothering you and it's not about a to-do list, I suppose. But other types of confusions are very easy to solve.. Just listen to your heart and don't reason with it.. everything shall sort out itself.

  12. everyone gets confused every now and then and specially the feeling that we make a choice now and a few years later might look back and say "what if" . could totally connect to every line that you have written. one thing is for sure the fear of wrong choices shall not stop us from following our heart. when you follow your heart confusions fade away.:)

  13. Beautiful. ohh, these crooked desires!

My grandfather always said to pick a direction and go. Period. People who spend too long in indecision never get anywhere. I know what he means. I spent too many years in that place with my writing, and although it's fine to start now, I look back and realize how far I'd be if I'd simply jumped in 5 years ago when I had the makings for a start.

    *sigh*

    Indecision is a killer.

  15. &, then a school of thoughts says- don't worry with confusions, they are just result of too many options & even that having many options is great :)

  20. Brilliantly said. The confusion of what path to take next in my life is exactly what is upsetting me at present. There are choices I need to make and I am worried about which ones to take. Your words were so refreshing and comforting. Well said.

  22. Confusion leads to choices, and choice is both privilege and curse rolled into one. A privilege because we determine our own fates, a curse because we must accept responsibility for the decisions we've made.

Exactly, that should be a good way. One gets to be guided by the immediate thought in mind. One will not be far from wrong! Nicely Jyoti!

  24. I felt I could relate to it - it is good to keep things simple. Unwanted complications make life tougher - if life could be simpler - perhaps we might see more smiles going round.
