Unwanted

He waited daily
Outside the mall
Just to get a single call
Call of chance
To go inside
And lay eyes on this heaven
With a sense of pride.

He has only seen it in the posters
Or heard about it from his friends
Who were not rich
But they managed to pretend.
Lucky are they
He used think
But he never let his
hopes
flow away or sink.

He used to stare
from outside doors
Shiny lights , People
and crystal clear floors.
Unwanted he began to feel
In front of God everyday
He kneeled.

It was his dream
To go in that mall
To shop for his sister
Buy her The Barbie Doll
Which she has seen
Once in a car
When she was standing
At bus stop, selling flowers.

They both were satisfied before
As they were unaware of
Unwanted desires and galore
Which their little heart
Failed to ignore.
Question Arises ?????
Who is more unwanted
These kids
Who undoubtedly
deserves a future brighter
                Or
Their desires
Which are fated
To go higher and higher.

  7. Jyoti,

Read 2 very truthful poems. I always say that put yourself in other's shoes before you say anything. That at times leads to little disagreement with my high command as I try to have overall picture before taking any step. This one show such conflict of emotions. He or his desires which should be unwanted. Well, considering he being so young, he can not control his desires but feel as unwanted. It is best to restrict one's desires within means.

    Take care

I'd tell the boy to go for it. He can, if he wants to.

Nice read, and a beautiful message in it.

  12. Is not the answer to questions is the same? Neither children nor their desire are unwanted from the children's perspective. I do not think their is a conflict here. Their desires' are not so high even at the highest level.

Think about the greed of already so rich people...

"a great question indeed....human must have to learn differentiating 'need and desire'.....has to work for need and should work for desire until the desires become unethical and unjustifie.....

every human has a right to desire and deserve for the bright future.....

according to your poem nothing is unwanted....neither those children nor their desires.....

    Excellent expressions u made here....

  20. Oh honey, this hit my heart. You write about those difficult topics, the ones that many would prefer to ignore or sweep under the proverbial carpet. Yet you do it in such a manner that the heart CAN bear the pain, because awareness DOES matter. Keep using your writing to shed that beautiful Light, Jyoti.

  22. Another beautiful insight into the sadness in our world..yet gives hope.

There desires come from a purity of youth...not knowing any other way...even though he was physiclly outside looking in...inwardly..he was experiencing the living of his dream...

Dreams and desires do go higher and higher..from here we manifest from the truth of the Spirit within...

Yet another beautifully written poem...that makes us all go inward...

  35. Shakespeare has already said- " All that glitters is not gold".

Then why everyone is racing blindly for this glitz ???

Why such instances are being presented before children... But this is world
Aspirations and hopes are crushed as ever.

A big question arises from your beautifully written poem- Is our culture is going through a contagious transition ?

Are we distracting the underprivileged section of society from their originality?

before it I thaught that my Eng. is very poor to understand.

  61. Wow! I see these kids on the streets wandering nowhere and desiring what not. sometimes I feel it's quiet natural and other times I feel scared thinking they might chose the wrong ways to fulfill what you called these 'unwanted' desires.. It's such a tender age for temptations but again... think, isn't it quiet natural? They are just kids afterall.. they see other rich kids have everything they need and don't need.
    Good one Jyo. again! :)

How tragic it is that millions of beautiful children end up feeling unwanted and disappointed because we, the adults, fail to fulfill our duties in an appropriate manner.
